Product Information

An early-mid season sweet pepper Ozarowska is suitable for protected growing. Heavy crops of large red fruit with thick, juicy, tasty flesh is a trade mark of sweet pepper Ozarowska. Like its relative, the chili pepper, sweet pepper originated in South America and dates back to around 5000 BC. As with many other plants from this region sweet pepper seeds were carried throughout the world by Spanish and Portuguese explorers. Known scientifically as Capsicum annum they are members of the nightshade family which also includes potatoes, tomatoes and eggplants. Sweet pepper fruit usually features three or four lobes but there are varieties that have a more tapered shape and no distinguishing lobes. Sweet pepper fruits range in size from two to five inches in diameter and two to six inches in length. Inside the thick flesh is an inner cavity with edible bitter seeds and a white spongy core. Green and purple varieties have a tangy almost bitter flavour, while the red, orange and yellows are sweeter bordering on fruity.
