Reputed to be the first true Iceberg lettuce and an All American Selections winner in 1944 Great Lakes 118 has set the standard for commercial growers for almost half a century.  Now deemed a Heritage variety Great Lakes 118 forms large dark green heads with good solid hearts and has a fantastic crisp, sweet flavour, just perfect for salads or sandwiches. Iceberg Lettuce Great Lakes stands well without bolting during the hottest of summers and has strong resistance to tip burn. It also shows a good tolerance to cold weather. Excellent variety for cropping in early spring or late autumn Great Lakes has proved to be very popular with home gardeners. An easy to grow iceberg lettuce Great Lakes matures approx. 80-90 days after sowing and has good storage ability if kept refrigerated.
