A medium early variety Dwarf French Bean Bona has long straight fibre-free pods. Suitable for immediate consumption or for preserving Bona is best when the pods are picked young and cooked within an hour of harvesting. Bona has an excellent flavour and the pods can be kept for up to a week when stored in a polythene bag and kept in a refrigerator. Native to South America French Bean plants cannot stand frost, they like warm conditions and hate heavy clay or acidic soil. It may be necessary to lime your soil prior to planting. French beans were introduced to Europe in the sixteenth century by Spanish and Portuguese explorers and are the most widely cultivated bean in the world
