Officially classed as an early main-crop but when chitted International Kidney can also be grown as an early potato.
Tubers are long or kidney shaped with white skin, shallow eyes and the firm, cream waxy flesh has a superb buttery flavour.
Excellent boiled or as a salad potato.
International Kidney potatoes became famous when a specific strain of the variety was and still is grown in Jersey and marketed as “Jersey Royals”.
Introduced way back in 1879, International Kidney has stood the test of time and is now considered a heritage variety.
