REDCURRANT
Jonkheer van Tets
Fruiting in early July Redcurrant Jonkheer van Tets hails the start of the Redcurrant picking season.
The large, bright red fruits are highly rated for flavour.
Yields on this upright growing bush which can also be grown as a cordon are generally very heavy.
A well established popular early season redcurrant Jonkheer van Tets will thrive on any reasonable, well drained garden soil.
When planting bushes should be spaced at 1.5m intervals.
Apply a mulch of well-rotted manure or compost to established plants every spring together with a nitrogen and potassium fertiliser.
Make sure plants are well watered in dry weather.
In the first year after planting prune bushes back to one bud above soil level in winter.
In later years only prune out weak branches.

CARE OF BARE-ROOT PLANTS
Plants need to be unpacked on delivery and if not to be planted immediately should be placed in a shallow trench and the roots completely covered with moist sand or soil. Plants treated in this manner can be held for quite some time.
