Product Information

 PHORMIUM

Blondie

Commonly known as New Zealand Flax or occasionally as Flax Lily.

This brand new cultivar was discovered on a nursery in Tauranga New Zealand in 2011 and is a sport of Phormium Cream Delight.

Phormium Blondie features narrow arching and twisting leaves with a broad creamy-yellow mid-stripe edged with chartreuse green and bordered with a thin greyish-purple outer margin.

Tall panicles or spikes of small, red, tubular flowers are produced in summer.

Grows only 60cn tall and if left undisturbed will eventually form a clump around 1.5m wide.

Simply stunning when planted in pots where the unique weeping foliage will cascade beautifully over the edge of the container.

Great for a sunny patio or a courtyard garden and can also be used to help brighten dark or partially shaded areas of the garden, yet Phormium Blondie is also adaptable enough to be grown indoors.

Can be planted in full sun or part shade and prefers a moist but well drained soil but will tolerate coastal conditions.

Hardy to -10 but in areas prone to severe frost it would perhaps be best to move container grown plants into a greenhouse or conservatory for the winter.

All pictures used are of mature plants and may not necessarily reflect plants at all times of the year.

Our plants are supplied ex. 9cm pots, they can be planted out immediately but better results will be obtained if they are grown on for a short time in a slightly larger container before transplanting to their final growing positions

FREE DELIVERY

We ask all our buyers to remember plants are living items and their appearance changes with the seasons.  Please don’t panic if the plant you receive looks different to the image on the website. This is quite normal and not a matter for any worry or concern, it is likely to be in perfect condition for the time of year and just enjoying a well-earned rest before bursting into action for the new season. Particularly in autumn and winter many shrubs will lose their leaves and look rather bare, gaunt and stick-like and from August onwards many perennial plants may not even be showing above the soil.

We want you to be happy with your purchase and all our items are checked and inspected visually before packing. In the unlikely event of a problem please advise us within 48hrs of delivery. Due to the nature of the goods we cannot accept any responsibility for their failure after planting as pests, disease, poor horticultural practice, extremes of weather and many other factors outside our control all take their toll. Goods will only be accepted for return after seller has been informed and given permission for their return.  Refunds will be issued when items are received back in saleable condition within 14 days from original despatch date. Buyer must pay all return charges except where an item has been dispatched in error.
