Product Information

Iron Cross

Depending on where you live this one has any number of other names, Good Luck Plant, False Shamrock, Lucky Clover, Ornamental Shamrock are probably the most common.

A clump forming, very decorative, fully hardy perennial that seldom grows more than 6 inches tall.

The foliage starts to unfold in mid to late April and has the appearance of four leave clover but the heart shaped leaves have a distinctive dark purple almost brown patch at the base of each leaflet creating a cross like pattern.

It is this dark cross like feature that gives the plant its Iron Cross name.

During May, June and July pretty, rose pink, tubular flowers are carried in great abundance making Oxalis Iron Cross a very attractive, low growing ornamental.

Easy to grow in full sun or semi-shade but does like well-drained soil.

Versatile and undemanding Oxalis Iron Cross is happy in the rockery or at the front of border and is also at home in pots and containers and can also be grown indoors.

A real gem of a plant to have in the garden.

All pictures used are of mature plants in full bloom and may not necessarily reflect plants at all times of the year.

Our plants are supplied ex. 7cm pots, they can be planted out immediately but better results may be obtained if they are grown on for a short time in a slightly larger container before transplanting to their final growing positions

We ask all our buyers to remember plants are living items and their appearance changes with the seasons.  Please don’t panic if the plant you receive looks different to the image on the website. This is quite normal and not a matter for any worry or concern, it is likely to be in perfect condition for the time of year. Particularly in autumn and winter many shrubs will lose their leaves and look rather bare, gaunt and stick-like and from August onwards many perennial plants may not even be showing above the soil.

We want you to be happy with your purchase and all our items are checked and inspected visually before packing. In the unlikely event of a problem please advise us within 48hrs of delivery. Due to the nature of the goods we cannot accept any responsibility for their failure after planting as pests, disease, poor horticultural practice, extremes of weather and many other factors outside our control all take their toll. Goods will only be accepted for return after seller has been informed and authorised their return.  Refunds will be issued when items are received back in saleable condition within 14 days from original dispatch date. Buyer must pay all return charges except where an item has been dispatched in error.
