Product Information

Prunus laurocerasus Rotundifolia

Wide, spreading, evergreen shrub planted extensively as a hedge in the U.K and Ireland.

Can attain a height and spread of 6m x 6m if left untrimmed.

Leaves are large, leathery and dark shining green.

Very attractive in April when it bears erect, terminal clusters of small white flowers.

Small cherry-like fruits, red at first, turning black follow the flowers but these can be harmful if eaten.

There are few evergreens more tolerant of shade and drips from overhanging trees.

When used as a hedge, plants should be placed in a single row about 12 inches apart.

Dislikes shallow chalk soils and very wet sites.

Our plants are supplied ex. 10cm pots, 30-40cms tall.

These pot grown laurels transplant much better than bare-root ones and therefore establish much quicker.

 Can be planted out immediately.

Multiple purchases attract discounts

If ordering a number of items please email us at   before paying and we will send an Invoice by return.

We ask all our buyers to remember plants are living items and their appearance changes with the seasons.  Please don’t panic if the plant you receive looks different to the image on the website. This is quite normal and not a matter for any worry or concern, it is likely to be in perfect condition for the time of year and just enjoying a well-earned rest before bursting into action for the new season. Particularly in autumn and winter many shrubs will lose their leaves and look rather bare, gaunt and stick-like and from August onwards many perennial plants may not even be showing above the soil.

We want you to be happy with your purchase and all our items are checked and inspected visually before packing. In the unlikely event of a problem please advise us at   within 48hrs of delivery. Due to the nature of the goods we cannot accept any responsibility for their failure after planting as pests, disease, poor horticultural practice, extremes of weather and many other factors outside our control all take their toll. Goods will only be accepted for return after seller has been informed and given permission for their return.  Refunds will be issued when items are received back in saleable condition within 14 days from original despatch date. Buyer must pay all return charges except where an item has been despatched in error.
