TULIP “SWEETHEART”

This marvellous tulip will be one of the first to bloom in your garden in spring. Classical flutes of attractive citrus lemon yellow flowers fading to creamy-white at the edges on top of sturdy stems make this an excellent cut flower. Planted between perennials or in groups in the border, these tulips will make a showcase but to show them off to best effect, contrasting shades of blue or purple will really bring out the lemon meringue colouring. Plant bulbs 4–5 inches deep in fertile, well-drained, soil, in autumn. Performs best in full sun but partial shade will be tolerated. Remove the flowers as they fade to prevent plants setting seed but allow foliage to yellow and wither for approx. 6 weeks before removing it.
