TULIP “CAIRO”

A fairly recent introduction in the tulip world, first offered in 1999. The classic shaped flowers, burnt orange on the inside and shimmering bronze on the outside, appear in April/May and are fragrant. Outstanding as a cut flower, “Cairo” will stand alone but will add depth to planting schemes of red, orange or purple. Excellent for forcing, you might easily associate the exotic, bronze/orange colour of this beauty with the Casbah.Plant the bulbs 4–5 inches deep in fertile, well-drained, soil. Performs best in full sun but partial shade will be tolerated. Remove the flowers as they fade to prevent plants setting seed but allow foliage to yellow and wither for approx. 6 weeks before removing it.
