Product Information

Sometimes known as Kaiser’s Crown.

If you’ve never seen it - be prepared for a real treat.

A spectacular and imposing plant with tall, stout stems carrying a ring of large burnt orange bell-shaped flowers with delicate purple veins and toped or crowned with a plume of leaves.

Highly decorative, this April/May flowering beauty even forms attractive seed heads later in the year.

Stately, aloft and simply demanding attention it is at its best planted between perennials which flower later in the season.

In bloom, a most impressive sight, Fritillaria Rubra brings a real pleasure to gardening.

These hardy bulbs should be planted approx. 15cm deep in full sun or part shade between September and December.

Rich, well-drained soil is essential and they benefit from a top dressing after flowering.

Once planted leave them undisturbed and Fritillaria Rubra will bloom even more abundantly year after year

Height: 90cm approx.

Size 20-24

Multiple purchases attract discounts

If ordering a number of items please email us at before paying and we will send an Invoice by return.

We ask all our buyers to please remember plants are living items and their appearance changes with the seasons. This is quite normal and not a matter for any worry or concern, your plants will look great during the growing season. Please don’t panic if a plant looks different to the image on the website. It is likely to be in perfect condition for the time of year and just ‘resting’ before it bursts into action in the coming season. Plants do look very different throughout the year. Particularly in winter, many shrubs lose their leaves and will look rather bare and stick-like and from August onwards many perennial plants may not even be showing above the soil.

We want you to be happy with your purchase and all our items are checked and inspected visually before packing. In the unlikely event of a problem please advise us at within 48hrs of delivery. You can also advise us by telephone on 028 794 17038 or 028 796 34343. Due to the nature of the goods we cannot accept any responsibility for their failure after planting as pests, disease, poor horticultural practice, extremes of weather and many other factors outside our control all take their toll. Goods will only be accepted for return after seller has been informed and given permission for their return.  A valid reason for return must be quoted. Refunds will only be issued when items are received back in saleable condition within 14 days from original despatch date. Buyer must pay all return charges except where an item has been despatched in error.
