Product Information

Blush Pink

Nandina is native to eastern Asia and commonly known as Heavenly Bamboo or Sacred Bamboo.

Despite its common name Nandina is not a member of the Bamboo family but is more closely related to Berberis.

A new cultivar Nandina Blush Pink is an erect, compact growing, evergreen shrub that will reach a height of only 2 feet with a similar spread after five years.

A striking shrub the leaves emerge pink in spring mature to lime green in summer before changing again to give a spectacular display of pink and red foliage in autumn.

As the temperatures drop in winter the foliage turns deep crimson or pillar box red and when the new pinkish growth emerges in spring the whole plant appears to blush, hence the name Blushing Pink.

A real riot of colour all year round.

Frost hardy but may need a little protection in severe cold or extremely exposed locations.

Discovered as a sport of Nandina Firepower at Magnolia Gardens Nursery in Texas U.S.A.

Although grown mainly for its handsome foliage Nandina Blush Pink carries sprays of small, dainty white flowers in summer and these are occasionally followed by bright red berries in autumn

Easy to grow, a sheltered spot at the front of a shrub border with moist but well drained acid or neutral soil is ideal but Blush Pink is also adaptable enough to make an interesting and colourful container plant on the patio where it will provide year round interest.

A low maintenance plant, simply prune or cut back any shoots that spoil the shape of the plant in late spring or summer.

Its non-invasive and weather tolerant nature makes Nanida Blush Pink perfect for today’s smaller gardens.

All pictures used are of mature plants and may not necessarily reflect plants at all times of the year.

Our plants are supplied ex. 9cm pots, they can be planted out immediately but better results will be obtained if they are grown on for a short time in a slightly larger container before transplanting to their final growing positions

We ask all our buyers to remember plants are living items and their appearance changes with the seasons.  Please don’t panic if the plant you receive looks different to the image on the website. This is quite normal and not a matter for any worry or concern, it is likely to be in perfect condition for the time of year and just enjoying a well-earned rest before bursting into action for the new season. Particularly in autumn and winter many shrubs will lose their leaves and look rather bare, gaunt and stick-like and from August onwards many perennial plants may not even be showing above the soil.

We want you to be happy with your purchase and all our items are checked and inspected visually before packing. In the unlikely event of a problem please advise us within 48hrs of delivery. Due to the nature of the goods we cannot accept any responsibility for their failure after planting as pests, disease, poor horticultural practice, extremes of weather and many other factors outside our control all take their toll. Goods will only be accepted for return after seller has been informed and given permission for their return.  Refunds will be issued when items are received back in saleable condition within 14 days from original dispatch date. Buyer must pay all return charges except where an item has been dispatched in error.
