Product Information

A large, vigorous, upright, deciduous, spreading, shrub with long branches and dark green, pointed leaves.

From late July until September Hydrangea Phantom produces huge, dense, conical or pyramidal shaped panicles of ivory or cream coloured flowers and these panicles can often reach 45cm long.

As the seasons pass the flowers mature, starting out ivory or cream, changing to white with yellow tips and finally in autumn turning pink with a tinge of green.

A magnificent shrub, ideal for a shady place and great for creating a feature late in the growing season.

The fabulous blooms of Hydrangea Phantom also make fantastic cut flowers.

The size of the flower heads can be increased by cutting the plant back to approx 20-30cm above ground level each year in March and applying a mulch of well rotted compost.

This also helps to keep the plant tidy and compact.

Not as particular about soil pH as many other Hydrangea Phantom does however require a partial shaded site with moist, well drained soil and shelter from cold winds.

Remove old flower heads in early spring.

Royal Horticultural Society Award of Garden Merit (AGM).

All pictures used are of mature plants in full bloom and may not necessarily reflect plants at this time of year.

We despatch plants ex. 10cm pots approx. 8-9 inches tall, they can be planted out immediately but better results are obtained when they are grown on for a short time in a slightly larger container before transplanting to their final growing positions.

Multiple purchases attract discounts

If ordering a number of items please email us at sales@sycamoretrading.co.uk before paying and we will send an Invoice by return.

We ask all our buyers to remember plants are living items and their appearance changes with the seasons.  Please don’t panic if the plant you receive looks different to the image on the website. This is quite normal and not a matter for any worry or concern, it is likely to be in perfect condition for the time of year and just enjoying a well-earned rest before bursting into action for the new season. Particularly in autumn and winter many shrubs will lose their leaves and look rather bare, gaunt and stick-like and from August onwards many perennial plants may not even be showing above the soil.

We want you to be happy with your purchase and all our items are checked and inspected visually before packing. In the unlikely event of a problem please advise us at sales@sycamoretrading.c.uk within 48hrs of delivery. Due to the nature of the goods we cannot accept any responsibility for their failure after planting as pests, disease, poor horticultural practice, extremes of weather and many other factors outside our control all take their toll. Goods will only be accepted for return after seller has been informed and given permission for their return.  Refunds will be issued when items are received back in saleable condition within 14 days from original despatch date. Buyer must pay all return charges except where an item has been despatched in error.
