Product Information

A large, bushy, deciduous shrub native to the Eastern U.S.A. that produces huge, white, ball like flower heads often 8 – 10 inches across in summer.

As autumn approaches these large blowsy flower heads fade to cream then pale lime and finally turn into papery brown seed heads.

The seed heads last for months and make a superb feature in the winter garden but are also much sought after by flower arrangers for dried arrangements.

Although normally very hardy, plants do need some protection from cold drying winds and because late frosts can damage new shoots and buds, it is recommended that plants be grown in a sheltered spot or against a wall.

One of our loveliest hydrangeas, Annabelle is more tolerant of extreme conditions than some other varieties.

Prefers a site in full sun or partial shade with moist, well drained, humus rich, fertile soil.

Prune regularly to remove frost damaged shoots and to help keep the plant compact.

Remove old flowers and seed heads in early spring.

Royal Horticultural Society Award of Garden Merit (AGM).

All pictures used are of mature plants in full bloom and may not necessarily reflect plants at all times of the year.

Our plants are supplied ex. 7cm pots, they can be planted out immediately but better results will be obtained if they are grown on for a short time in a slightly larger container before transplanting to their final growing positions

We ask all our buyers to remember plants are living items and their appearance changes with the seasons.  Please don’t panic if the plant you receive looks different to the image on the website. This is quite normal and not a matter for any worry or concern, it is likely to be in perfect condition for the time of year and just enjoying a well-earned rest before bursting into action for the new season. Particularly in autumn and winter many shrubs will lose their leaves and look rather bare, gaunt and stick-like and from August onwards many perennial plants may not even be showing above the soil.

We want you to be happy with your purchase and all our items are checked and inspected visually before packing. In the unlikely event of a problem please advise us within 48hrs of delivery. Due to the nature of the goods we cannot accept any responsibility for their failure after planting as pests, disease, poor horticultural practice, extremes of weather and many other factors outside our control all take their toll. Goods will only be accepted for return after seller has been informed and given permission for their return.  Refunds will be issued when items are received back in saleable condition within 14 days from original despatch date. Buyer must pay all return charges except where an item has been despatched in error.
