Product Information

An upright growing deciduous shrub with slender, gently arching branches and small, green, lance-shaped leaves which have a faint reddish tinge on the underside.

The single long stalked flowers are crimson and violet-purple and what they lack in size is made up for in quantity.

Fuchsia gracilis blooms over a long period and flowers can often be seen dangling beneath the stems from late spring until late autumn.

Repeat flowering can be encouraged by dead-heading the spent blooms

Flowers are followed by purple fruits in late autumn.

Great for attracting bees and many other beneficial insects to the garden.

To give of its best Fuchsia gracilis needs a site with rich, moist but well-drained soil where it can catch the morning sun and a little light afternoon shade.

Heavy shade is not recommended as it will greatly reduce flowering.

With minimal care this native of Chile and Argentina can be very long lived and although some branches may be nipped in cold frosty weather they will re-shoot in spring.

If left untrimmed can reach a height of 1.5 – 2.5 metres with a similar spread.

Royal Horticultural Society Award of Garden Merit (AGM).

Plants supplied ex. 9cm pots and can be planted out immediately but may benefit from growing on for a short time in a slightly lager container before planting in their final growing positions.

Multiple purchases attract discounts

If ordering a number of items please email us at sales@sycamoretrading.co.uk before paying and we will send an Invoice by return.

We ask all our buyers to remember plants are living items and their appearance changes with the seasons.  Please don’t panic if the plant you receive looks different to the image on the website. This is quite normal and not a matter for any worry or concern, it is likely to be in perfect condition for the time of year and just enjoying a well-earned rest before bursting into action for the new season. Particularly in autumn and winter many shrubs will lose their leaves and look rather bare, gaunt and stick-like and from August onwards many perennial plants may not even be showing above the soil.

We want you to be happy with your purchase and all our items are checked and inspected visually before packing. In the unlikely event of a problem please advise us at sales@sycamoretrading.co.uk within 48hrs of delivery. Due to the nature of the goods we cannot accept any responsibility for their failure after planting as pests, disease, poor horticultural practice, extremes of weather and many other factors outside our control all take their toll. Goods will only be accepted for return after seller has been informed and given permission for their return.  Refunds will be issued when items are received back in saleable condition within 14 days from original despatch date. Buyer must pay all return charges except where an item has been despatched in error.
