Product Information

A very handsome species from W. China introduced by Dr Harry Smith around 1934.

This deciduous shrub has arching branches and small greyish-green rounded leaves which turn beautiful shades of red before falling in autumn.

White flowers flushed with pink appear in late spring or early summer and are followed in autumn by large bright orange fruits.

Great plant for attracting wild life to the garden, butterflies and bees love the flowers and birds feast on the berries.

Cotoneaster Splendens will grow and thrive in any reasonable soil in sun or partial shade.

Eventual height and spread approx. 2m x 2.5m.

Plants supplied ex. 10cm pots approx. 6 inches tall, they can be planted out immediately but best results are obtained when they are grown on for a short time in a slightly larger container before transplanting to their final growing positions

Multiple purchases attract discounts

If ordering a number of items please email us at before paying and we will send an Invoice by return.

We ask all our buyers to remember plants are living items and their appearance changes with the seasons.  Please don’t panic if the plant you receive looks different to the image on the website. This is quite normal and not a matter for any worry or concern, it is likely to be in perfect condition for the time of year and just enjoying a well-earned rest before bursting into action for the new season. Particularly in autumn and winter many shrubs will lose their leaves and look rather bare, gaunt and stick-like and from August onwards many perennial plants may not even be showing above the soil.

We want you to be happy with your purchase and all our items are checked and inspected visually before packing. In the unlikely event of a problem please advise us at within 48hrs of delivery. Due to the nature of the goods we cannot accept any responsibility for their failure after planting as pests, disease, poor horticultural practice, extremes of weather and many other factors outside our control all take their toll. Goods will only be accepted for return after seller has been informed and given permission for their return.  Refunds will be issued when items are received back in saleable condition within 14 days from original despatch date. Buyer must pay all return charges except where an item has been despatched in error.
