Product Information

Charlie Boy

A striking new variety, Charlie Boy has been described by some as, and I quote “the best Cordyline there is”.

First discovered in the late 1990’s by Graeme Richards on his nursery in Holbeach Lincs. and he together with Pat Fitzgerald of Fitzgeralds Nurseries in Ireland have spent the last 15 years painstakingly bringing it into production.

One of the characteristics of this wonderful plant is the richly coloured sword-like burgundy leaves edged with shinning cerise pink, a quite sensational and striking combination.

Cordyline Charlie Boy prefers a nice sheltered position in full sun or partial shade.

Any reasonable soil is suitable however it must be moist but not waterlogged at all times.

Very adaptable and with its handsome foliage it can also be used as a very colourful patio feature.

Hardy to -7C and because of its liking for cool, damp conditions Charlie Boy should fit perfectly into the climate of the British Isles.

A tough and resilient plant and for such a fancy variety shows a robustness rarely seen in other Cordyline cultivars.

With a vigorous root system and a very strong stem Cordyline Charlie Boy will eventually reach 8 feet.

This low-maintenance, exotic-looking evergreen will give years of colourful enjoyment to your garden or patio.

Very rare and unusual plant.

Illustrations are of mature plants.

Plants supplied ex. 3.5cm plug trays and best results are obtained by growing them on for a short time in a slightly lager container before planting in their final growing positions.

We ask all our buyers to remember plants are living items and their appearance changes with the seasons.  Please don’t panic if the plant you receive looks different to the image on the website. This is quite normal and not a matter for any worry or concern, it is likely to be in perfect condition for the time of year and just enjoying a well-earned rest before bursting into action for the new season. Particularly in autumn and winter many shrubs will lose their leaves and look rather bare, gaunt and stick-like and from August onwards many perennial plants may not even be showing above the soil.

We want you to be happy with your purchase and all our items are checked and inspected visually before packing. In the unlikely event of a problem please advise us at within 48hrs of delivery. Due to the nature of the goods we cannot accept any responsibility for their failure after planting as pests, disease, poor horticultural practice, extremes of weather and many other factors outside our control all take their toll. Goods will only be accepted for return after seller has been informed and given permission for their return.  Refunds will be issued when items are received back in saleable condition within 14 days from original despatch date. Buyer must pay all return charges except where an item has been dispatched in error.
